Merrilee is a Registered Social Worker who moved from British Columbia to Nova Scotia in 2013. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo. Her practice is grounded in supporting individuals and families navigating disabilities, complex needs, and trauma histories. After years of working in the non-profit sector, Merrilee brings a practical, person-centered approach, meeting people where they are and adapting therapeutic frameworks to meet their unique needs.
Her work is informed by EMDR, Somatic Processing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing), alongside family systems and community-based perspectives, to provide holistic, individualized care.
Merrilee believes that both lived experience and her education have shaped her ability to form meaningful therapeutic relationships. She strives to foster the experience of "feeling felt" in therapy, creating a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. She is passionate about working with individuals navigating disabilities, life transitions, parenthood, and complex trauma. Merrilee is particularly skilled in supporting children and families as they navigate community resources and complex service systems.
